Parking at the small parking place close to Brownrigg Farm (room for approx. 3 cars), a well defined path headed around an area of woodland and past a National Trust sign. The path then headed up towards the top through areas that look like they are usually quite boggy although today everything was frozen with snow in places. According to the guide books, the tumulus that marks the summit dates back to the Bronze age. From the top there are good views across to both Blencathra and the Hellvelyn range, as well as Little Mell Fell.
