A beautiful, almost Spring like morning, so we took a short walk up to Aira Force, probably the best known waterfall in the Lake District. A small stone footbridge crosses the top of the falls where you can look directly down the 70 foot drop. The network of well marked paths, trails, bridges probably warrant a longer stay with parking provided by the National Trust (free to members). There are also great views down Ullswater and the mountains beyond.
