Steel Knotts, Wether Hill, Loadpot Hill, Arthurs Pike and Bonscale Pike

The last couple of weeks have been busy what with doing some work on the house and a trip to Oslo but today it was time to put the boots back on.  With beautiful sunshine and no wind forecast we decided to do a circular walk on the south side of Ullswater which took in 5 Wainwrights.  Starting from the church car park at Martindale we headed directly up a steep (but well marked) path that took us to the summit of Steel Knotts (otherwise known as Pikeawassa).  Following the ridge line to the south took us to Gowk Hill and then heading eastwards up to the wide, clear path that is the High Street.  A well marked path goes to the North that takes in Wether Hill, Loadpot Hill and Arthurs Pike.  On the way back down we took in Bonscale Pike before descending down a steep (and slippery) path back to our starting point where a friendly (but slightly nervous) deer was waiting for us.
