The quickest route up to High Rigg is from the church at St John’s-in-the-Vale but a much nicer route starts from Legburthwaite where a full traverse of the ridge can be done. Walking from south to north we managed to reach the top just before the weather turned so were rewarded with views to the north of Blencathra and Skiddaw, with a beautiful light over Thirlmere to the south.
