Not the nicest of weather but we headed up Martindale on the south side of Ullswater, starting from the church at the foot of Hallin Fell.  Along the ridge at Steel Knotts we managed to get a glimpse through the mist of Ullswater itself along with a small group of deer.

A beautiful clear day to walk up Catbells.  After a short, steep climb up a well defined path we were soon rewarded with views across Derwentwater to Skiddaw and Blencathra.

After spending Christmas back in Norway we arrived home to some beautiful weather so headed up Loughrigg Fell.  Starting from the car park at White Moss (between Grasmere and Rydal) we certainly weren't alone but were rewarded with some amazing views at the top.

Hallin Fell is beautifully situated overlooking Ullswater and is 1 of the 214 Wainwright fells (hills or mountains) in the Lake District.  At an altitude less than 1300 feet and easily accessible from St Peters church in Martindale it is one of the easiest walks to get us started, particularly as some of the higher … Continue reading Hallin Fell →
